The Lady Eagles came into Thursday night’s competition knowing that they would have a tough game on their hands against the undefeated Pirates. The game started slow with CFC scoring the first point. The Eagles retaliated by making two layups putting them up 4-1. The Pirates eventually tied it up with free throws. The Eagles struck again at the free throw line putting Alma-Pepin back into the lead. CFC eventually made a comeback and then scored putting them ahead. From there the Pirates capitalized on the Eagle's mistakes. The Eagles went into halftime trailing 19-29.
Starting the second half there was a drought for both teams, going a few minutes without scoring a basket. The Pirates were the first to score and from there they went on a 16-2 run. The Eagles attempted to make a comeback; however, nothing seemed to be falling for them. The final score was 34-55. The Eagles were led by Allidah Luff with 11 points and Finley Noll with 10. The Pirates were led by Mackenzie Wenger with 15 and Emmalee Mann with 9. The Pirates will have a week off of action. The Eagles have a busy three-game week. On Monday, they will travel up to Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran. The other two games will be back-to-back home games. On Thursday, they will host St. Croix Central. Finally, on Friday, they will host Alma Center Lincoln in Alma.
