The Eagles had two conference baseball games this past week to start the season off. Eau Claire Emmanuel drove down to Alma last Tuesday to start the conference play-off for both teams. Stewart started on the mound pitching for the Eagles. The Eagles got the early lead, but Emmanuel was able to tie the game back up. Going into the 7th inning, the game was still tied 2-2. Stewart hit his pitch limit, and Keegan Stiehl came into a tied game to close it out for the Eagles. In the bottom of the 7th the Eagles left runners on the bases with the chance to walk it off and win the game. Coming into the top of the 8th, Emmanuel had two runners on with some clutch hits and one error. The next batter took the ball yard with Emmanuel up 6-2 at the end of the inning. The Eagles were not able to score in the bottom, giving Emanuel the win.

Later in the week, the Eagles traveled down to Alma Center Lincoln to take on the Hornets. The Eagles were able to get on top with Stewart on 2nd, Sterry hit a gapper to drive him in. Stiehl was able to find it on the mound to keep the Hornets scoreless the entire game. Everyone for the Eagles was able to find a way on base during the game. The Eagles scored 12 runs and ended the game in five innings.

Next week the Eagles will host Independence/Gilmanton in Pepin on Tuesday and Melrose-Mindoro on Friday in Alma.
