Over the past weekend, the Lady Eagles Volleyball Team competed in the annual Elmwood-Plum City tournament. Hosting eight different teams, Elmwood’s gym was packed. EPC invited Alma-Pepin, Lake Holcombe, Clayton, Ellsworth, McDonall Catholic, Luck, and Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau to participate in the event. The Eagles started their first match against Division 2 school, Ellsworth. Having high energy for their first match, the Eagles defeated Ellsworth 2-1. Alma-Pepin had to quickly refocus as they faced EPC right after; Elmwood’s offense was too much for the Eagles. The Eagles lost their second game 0-2. After a tough loss, a game break was much needed for AP to reset and finish the rest of their pool play against Lake Holcombe. Lake Holcombe showed no competition for the Eagles as they quickly secured the win in two sets. The Eagles finished 2-1 in pool play, meaning that they would play against Clayton for third and fourth place. AP let their tiredness get the best of them as they were defeated in two sets by the Clayton Bears. The Lady Eagles will face Independence-Gilmanton on Thursday night for their home opener of the 2024 season.
