The Alma Area School District and its community relations committee held its third annual Community Fest this past Sunday. The event was hosted at the Alma Rod and Gun Club and is an amazing opportunity for members from Alma and neighboring communities to get together and have some fun!
Some featured activities included bubbles, a petting zoo, carnival games, rocket building and launching, bouncy houses, free food, and much, much more. The Alma FFA created an amazing petting zoo for children to enjoy alongside two cool bouncy houses. All carnival games were made and provided by the Riverman Industries program at Alma High School. The activities didn’t stop there. Sheila Huber put together succulent pumpkin kits for all to make and participate. Furthermore, well over 60 different prize baskets and gift cards were given away.
Alma Ambulance, Riverland Energy, Buffalo County K9 Unit, as well as Alma and Nelson Fire Departments all participated. These community services were there to answer any questions the community may have and showcase what they do every day. The fire department had children experience what it’s like to spray their fire hose and even had targets to hit. The ambulance service gave tours of their ambulance, and the K9 unit even gave a drug dog demonstration.
This year's community fest had a terrific turnout. All in attendance enjoyed the beautiful weather and celebrated our amazing community together. A special thank you to the Alma Rod and Gun Club for hosting this event again, and thank you so much to everyone at Alma Area Schools who made this event possible. This is a tradition that we at Alma hope lives on for many more years.
