The Lady Eagles basketball team closed out their season Saturday night with a strong 14–12 overall record and plenty to be proud of. This group battled all year long and finished with a winning record, a true testament to all their hard work and dedication.

The Eagles also claimed the Battle for the Paddle victory over EPC, extending their impressive four-year winning streak in the rivalry. For the second year in a row, they competed in the regional final, marking the fourth regional final appearance in program history, an incredible accomplishment for the team.

We are so proud of everything this talented and determined group achieved this season. A special thank you to our two seniors, Tori Creighton and Kennedy Carlson, for their commitment to the program. The future is bright for Lady Eagles basketball, and we can’t wait to see what this team accomplishes in the years ahead!

This week’s Student of the Week is first grader, Elsie Hetrick. She is the daughter of Samantha and Zach Hetrick; she also has an older sister, Sydney. Elsie’s favorite class is art because she gets to paint, especially when she gets to paint the color orange. Some of her favorite things to do are going on the swings at recess, hanging out with friends, and doing T-ball and dance. If Elsie had to eat one thing for the rest of her life, she says she would eat peaches because they are very sweet. She also would like to travel to Florida, so that she could swim in the pretty, blue water. One thing that never fails to make Elsie laugh is jokes that people tell her. Congratulations Elsie, keep up the good work!

This week’s Student of the Week is Jackson Reed, a Junior from Alma. Jackson is the son of Joshua and Sharaya, whom he looks up to as a role model. At school, Mr. Reed teaches his favorite classes: Shop and Rivermen Industries. His favorite thing about Alma is how close he is with teachers, not just his father, but everyone, due to the small class sizes. He also enjoys the many “hands-on” classes he has. His favorite school lunch is pizza boats. At home, his sister, Chloe, and he spend time playing with their puppy Remi, a German shorthaired pointer. Golf has become his newest passion, and this spring he’ll begin his second year, alongside trap shooting and FFA. As of right now, he's still uncertain about what he wants to do after of highschool. Congratulations, Jackson Reed, for being Student Of the Week.

Congratulations to both the girls' and boys' Eagles Basketball teams. The Eagles boys started the week on a high note, traveling to Melrose-Mindoro and getting a win. Then the Eagles girls hosted Weston-Ithica in the first round of playoffs and secured a win to move on to the second round.

The boys will hit it off again in Pepin on Thursday, and the girls will make the hike to Royal for the second round of WIAA playoffs. Good luck to both teams!

Game day excitement is here—it's playoff time! The Eagles face off against Weston/Ithaca in the first round of the playoffs! Varsity tips off at 7 PM—get to the gym early, fill the stands, cheer loud, and let's send our Eagles to the next round with a big win!
On Saturday, the Eagles traveled to Blair-Taylor and pulled out a victory in this high-scoring battle. Way to go, boys!

This week’s Student of the Week is, sixth grader, Asya Wieczorek. Asya is the daughter of Jeff and Crystal. Her family and friends are her biggest inspirations because she trusts them, and they give her great advice. Asya’s favorite part about being in sixth grade is being on the high school end of the building. She enjoys English class in the early mornings with her favorite teacher, Mr. Hoolihan; he is very nice and easy going but strict when he needs to be. When not in school, you may find Asya drawing, singing, or hanging out with her friends. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would travel to Japan or Korea because of all the different convenience stores she could go to. Congratulations, Asya, on being this week’s Student of the Week!
