This week, the Alma/Pepin Eagles are not only hosting exciting volleyball action on Thursday and Friday night football, but also two very special events that bring our communities together.
At both games, we’ll be holding raffles in support of Caiden Haake—a proud Pepin graduate, Eagle athletic legend, and an incredible young man who is currently facing the difficult battle of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. All proceeds will go directly toward Caiden’s medical expenses and financial needs, with any additional funds donated to cancer research.

On Friday night, just before the National Anthem, we will also be dedicating our newly landscaped flag pole area and flag pole in remembrance of Tom Schultz. This special gift to Alma Area Schools comes from Tom’s wife, Aimee, his sons Trevor and Hunter, and their mother, Vicki. A 1980 Alma graduate, Tom’s love for Alma and Buffalo County showed through his tireless volunteer work, his passion for the outdoors, and his commitment to helping others.
We hope you’ll join us this Thursday and Friday—not only to cheer on our athletes, but to celebrate community, honor Tom’s legacy, and rally together in support of Caiden.

They had a lot of fun building the tallest flag possible. The biggest challenge was having it not tip over. It was a “balancing” act.

One of the highlights was Sheila Huber’s pumpkin succulent kits, which were a big hit with students, staff, and community. Local businesses and organizations also joined in to make the day special. Happy Hub, Alma FFA, Rivermen Industries, Nelson Fire Department, Alma Ambulance, and Riverland Energy were some of the organizations that provided us with a little insight into how they contribute to our community.
At the community fest, there was a free hot dog meal along with cookies and chips. The school even brought out its own ice cream machine, which was one of the main attractions. The ice cream was such a big hit that when a mom and a daughter came to get some, the mom shared the story of how her daughter had just had a dream about twist ice cream. The mother then stated, “Thanks for making her dreams come true”.
The community is especially grateful to the Rod and Gun Club for providing their facility. Community Fest is quickly becoming a tradition that celebrates the support, teamwork, and spirit of Alma Area Schools. Thank you to all who attended and helped out to make this event a special day for the whole community.
