Lady Eagles Lose Season Opener To Spring Valley
Eagles opened up the season against the Division 3 Cardinals on Tuesday Night in Pepin. The Spring Valley Cardinals started hot with number 8, Mara Ducklow, and number 11, Charli Vanasee, leading the way. Mara Ducklow had an outstanding 13-kill game, as well as Charli Vanasee with 11 kills. The Eagles’ number 7, Lundyn Carlson, had a phenomenal 17 digs. The Cardinals won the first set 25-15. The Cardinals continued to march. They won the second set 25-11 as well as the third 25-13. After interviewing some students from Pepin-Alma one said, “There is plenty of room for improvement.” Senior Lundyn Carlson said, “There is a lot of room for improvement, we just need some time.” Lundyn also said, “We need to get more blocks.” The Cardinals play against Baldwin Woodville on Thursday, September 7. The Eagles are ready to come back strong on Thursday, September 7, against Eleva Strum at Alma for their first conference game of the season.


Pepin-Alma Eagles First Conference Victory
The Friday night lights were shining at Pepin on September 1st for the first conference matchup between the Pepin-Alma Eagles and the Eleva-Strum Cardinals. The Pep band and dance team added to the excitement with their exceptional performances. Senior Jackson Riesgraf started the Eagle's opening drive off strong with a 36-yard touchdown. Jackson continued to have a great performance throughout the game as he added two more touchdowns in the first half. The Cardinals answered back as Alex Anderson ran the ball into the endzone. The Cardinals junior quarterback, Brennen Hanner scored Eleva-Strum a touchdown in the second quarter as well. Evan Olson responded by completing a 40-yard run on a counterplay. By halftime, Pepin-Alma built the lead up 40-14. Eagles senior quarterback Madox Stewart states, “The first half was tough. They ran the ball and hit harder than we were expecting, but in the second half we made an improvement and came ready to play”. Although up by 37, the Eagles weren't done yet. Demetrius Bergmann, went on to score with a 62-yard run. Evan Olson added to the fun with another 35-yard run to the endzone. As the lead grew, the Eagle's defense began to incorporate some of their younger players including sophomores Nash Komisar with a fumble recovery and Cole Mcquiston with an interception. Pepin-Alma secured the win with a 54-14 final score. On Friday, September 8th, the Eagles will travel to Augusta for their next conference game.

The Alma FFA will host an animal exhibit at the Alma Area Community Fest this Sunday. What type of animals will be there? At least one of each of the following have been signed up: goats, pigs, calves, sheep, poultry and a dog. Mark your calendars. It's Sunday from noon to 3:00PM at the Alma Rod & Gun Club.


The team of Golf Coach Dan Noll, school board member, Deb Noll, teachers Katie Dierauer and Betty Glander shot a 64 with the great putting of Katie Dierauer and Betty Glander. Mrs. Dierauer made 4 birdie putts including the one on hole 11. This was during the Tee it Up for Teachers at The Grove Golf Course in Cochrane. Each team raised $50 for the school teachers at Alma. There were 14 teams that golfed for Alma. Thanks for hosting a wonderful event!

Family: My husband Kent and I have been married for 23 years and are blessed with 5 children. McKenna, (21 Pre-Med; UW-Madison) Also, starter on the WI Badgers Women’s Club Basketball National Champs two-year's running. Gunnar (19 Pre-Chiropractic UW-Eau Claire); Tight-End-Blugolds football. Ethan, Senior Durand, Scout & Sawyer (Twins) 7th grade Durand.
Hobbies: We are a HUGE sports family. I enjoy coaching youth basketball and playing music with the kids at Lyster Sunday School. I sang and played keyboard in the Bennett Valley Gray Band for 30 years and even was blessed enough to play at Country Fest 8 times. I also make quilts and crochet baby blankets for all my nieces and nephews’ births and graduations.
