Meet Kelten Keeler, our remarkable 4th-grade Student of the Week who was born on November 4th, 2015. His favorite class is Physical Education, where he brings energy and a love for staying active. When it comes to treats, Kelten enjoys peach rings. Also for lunch, Kelten enjoys the hot dogs that the school makes. Outside of school, you can find him playing a lot of Farm Simulator on his Xbox. Kelten is a caring brother to two siblings, Trevor and Ayven. With aspirations to become an EMT, Kelten's desire to help others is shown every day at school. In addition to being an outstanding student, Kelten is a proud pet owner, sharing his home with two dogs and three cats. His favorite furry companion, Bailey, holds a special place in his heart. Congratulations, Kelten Keeler, on this well-deserved recognition! Your positive influence and dedication to making a difference make you an inspiration to us all. Keep up the fantastic work!
This week, the Alma School District is losing an important member of their community as Katie Hanson will be starting a new chapter in her work life. Katie started as a paraprofessional sub in January of 2014, and later that year she started in Alma as the B-4 sub for Mrs. Rathke. The following year, she started doing library classes for kids in grades B-4 to 12th grade. For the next few years, Katie helped out where she could around the school. From paraprofessional sub to helping with bus duty, Katie helped out at Alma Area Schools whenever she could. One of Katie's great accomplishments at Alma Area Schools was starting up Rivermen Clubhouse with Mr. Reed. In 2020, Katie became the Director of Rivermen Clubhouse and Elementary Secretary. Thank you to Katie Hanson for spending the last 10 years making The Alma Area School District a better place.
This week February 5-9 is National School Counseling Week. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of our counselors, Lana Rieck & Heather Kosik. They provide guidance, encouragement, and resources to our students, helping them navigate their educational journey with confidence.
I encourage you to take a moment to thank our school counselors in your classes and acknowledge their contributions. Your words of appreciation will make a significant impact and reinforce the importance of their role in our school community.

The social skill in kindergarten this week was decision making. Students were faced with many decisions they had to make. We talked about thinking before you decide. We brainstormed how to decide. To put our decision making skills to the test, we played board games!
Rivermen clubhouse has big news....
After learning things about long ago in Language Arts, our Wacky Wednesday was all about making butter in a jar! The kids that were a little hesitant about trying it loved it!!!
I am a proud teacher of the 1st graders! They did a wonderful job singing the National Anthem at the boys varsity game in Alma on Tuesday, January 30th!
The Community thanks Mary Meixner for the hard work she has put into the cooking class that was a part of the Out of School Time grant. Members of the community were invited to the school to learn three meals. The best part of it all was everyone got to take the meals they made home.

Six Alma students traveled to Eleva-Strum High School for an umping clinic today. During the clinic, students were taught about the mechanics and positioning of being an ump. Those who attended now have a solid knowledge of umping either softball or baseball.
On Saturday, January 27, the Alma Junior Band traveled to Whitehall to participate in the annual solo and ensemble festival. They did an amazing job and represented themselves and Alma School with pride. They all have so much to be proud of.
