Rivermen Clubhouse kids were sure glad to be back together this week. In January you think of snowmen yet. This afternoon the kids had fun making a cookie look like a melting snowman. They all had a great time showing and eating their cookie. Happy New Year!

With a Winter Storm Warning issued for our area starting this afternoon and extending into the weekend, along with dangerous wind chill temperatures moving in, we have made the decision to close early at 2:30 PM and cancel all after school activities for today, Wednesday, December 21st and we will be closing school tomorrow, Thursday, December 22nd. We hope that by making this announcement early, it provides all of our students, families, and staff members time to plan accordingly. Again, school will close at 2:30 PM and all after school activities for today, along with school and after school activities for tomorrow have been canceled. A special thanks to the Wabasha VFW Post 4086 for their generous donation to the Eagles Girls Basketball Team and Eagles Softball Team. The basketball team purchased new warm-ups and new practice jerseys. The softball team will be using their donation to purchase some new equipment.

"Does Handwashing Really Matter???" That was the question Nurse Katie asked the 5th and 6th graders last week. To find out the answer we rolled up our sleeves and did an experiment! Using agar plates (generously donated by Advent Health) we tested clean hands, dirty hands and a few other surfaces. We discussed the scientific method: observe/question, hypothesize, experiment, evaluate and conclude. We concluded that (while not perfect), clean hands are MUCH less germy than dirty hands. SCIENCE IS COOL!!!!

Rivermen Clubhouse enjoyed fun games for the Christmas season, making paper snow flakes and doing fun crafts too. We hope everyone had a great and safe two days off.
