Six children stand smiling in front of a school wall decorated with colorful paper chains and a sign about kindness. The students include: Grayson Hoch, Ruby Reidt, Piper Curtis, Austin Ritscher, Fletcher Henderson, and Shae Ressie.

You are invited! Alma School District Early Childhood Screening will be held March 6th from 8:00-10:30 AM.

What is Early Childhood Screening?
Early Childhood Screening is a FREE check of a child's hearing and vision, weight and height, health history, immunizations, speech and language, general development and motor skills.
Early Childhood Screening is NOT a readiness test, and the results will not affect your child's ability to enroll in school. Screening can in some cases, identify children who may have health or developmental concerns and allows for appropriate assistance as early as possible. This assistance helps children get off to a good start when they enter school. Parents gain information about their child's health and overall development at screenings. In addition, parents are provided access to available resources that help children grow.

Here is what you can expect from the Early Childhood Screening day at Alma School:
Hearing/Vision Screening (5-10 minutes)
Conversation to share important information about your child. You will meet early childhood instructors.
Play stations where the child’s speech, academic readiness skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills and social behavior will be observed (30 minutes)
Information from community based programs or service agencies (view exhibits/interact with representatives)
A resource folder for parents/families
A gift from PIE and a goodie bag for the child

The District will also provide information about the B-4 program and will have fall enrollment forms available if families desire to pursue that option.

Please use the SIGN UP GENIUS app link to pick a time slot for you and your child on the morning of March 6th. Once you’ve signed up, we will send you a few other forms, including a Health Inventory and ASQ-3 Form, to complete and bring with you on March 6.

Plan to spend around 60 minutes at school.

We look forward to meeting you and your child on March 6th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me: brevicks@alma.k12.wi.us

Thank you,
Mrs. Brevick

“Promotional basketball game graphic with bold red and blue background. On the left, the word ‘GAMEDAY’ appears vertically in large white letters on a blue panel. On the right, a Pepin boys basketball player in a white uniform leaps toward the hoop for a right-handed layup. Text boxes read: ‘Thursday – Eagles – Varsity 5:45, JV to follow’ and ‘@ Boyceville.’ A live stream is available at https://fan.hudl.com/usa/wi/boyceville/organization/19355/boyceville-high-school/schedule?date=2026-02-01T06%3A00%3A00.000Z&range=Week&s=U2NoZWR1bGVFbnRyeVB1YmxpY1N1bW1hcnk2OTI3NTZiMjlkNWI5N2JlMjEwNDU1MjU%3D&shared=true.”

A vertically oriented Instagram graphic promoting a girls basketball game. The background is mostly black with a rough, gritty texture that looks like layered paint or chalk, creating a dramatic sports-poster style. Repeated across the background in large, bold blue letters is the phrase “Game Day,” stacked and slightly transparent so it blends into the dark backdrop. At the very top of the image, small blue text reads “Girls Basketball.” Centered in the graphic is Macy Stewart, a high school girls basketball player. She is shown from about the waist up and is positioned slightly forward so she stands out from the background. Macy is wearing a red basketball jersey with blue and white accents, matching red shorts, and a visible jersey number on the front. Her hair is pulled back, and her face shows strong focus and concentration. She is holding an orange Spalding basketball with both hands directly in front of her chest, elbows bent, in a classic free-throw shooting stance. Her eyes are looking upward toward an unseen basket, and her posture is upright and steady, suggesting a moment of calm before taking the shot. Across the middle of the image, over Macy’s torso, is a bold red rectangular banner with white trim. Inside the banner, large white capital letters read “Eagles vs Cardinals,” clearly announcing the matchup. Below the banner, bright blue text reads “@ Pepin – JV 5:45,” indicating the game location and junior varsity start time. Beneath that, white capital letters read “Varsity to Follow,” letting viewers know the varsity game begins after the JV game. The overall design uses strong contrast with blue, red, white, and black colors to highlight school spirit and create an energetic, competitive feel. The graphic is designed to catch attention, promote school pride, and encourage fans to attend and support the Eagles on game day.

Chase Schwen is a sophomore from Nelson. His biggest role models are his parents, Becca Fuller and Sam Schwen, along with his brother, Evan Fuller. At school, Chase’s favorite class is English with Mrs. Krzoska because she teaches thoroughly and explains everything clearly. He enjoys attending Alma for its small class sizes and the opportunity for one-on-one time with teachers. He also appreciates the school lunches, especially the pizza dippers. After school, Chase plays football, but his true passion is competing in rodeos and hunting. In rodeo events, he participates in bareback riding and bull riding. Most recently, he earned first place in Novice Bull Riding in Waukon, Iowa. When hunting, his favorite activity is duck hunting with his dog, Gus, a chocolate Labrador. After high school, Chase plans to attend college and continue his rodeo career. Congratulations to Chase on being Student of the Week!

Chase Schwen is this week's Student of the Week.
Kindergartener, Emma Mielke, is this week’s Alma Elementary Student of the Week. Her favorite class is math, where they work on writing. When she isn’t at school, Emma enjoys playing with her toys, especially her favorite Disney princess doll, Elsa. If she had any superpowers, Emma wishes to have ice powers just like Elsa, so she can freeze people. Emma wants to help people when she is older, so her dream job is to become a doctor. If she could have any pet in the world, Emma would want to have a cat, although she already has two dogs. When asked, Emma said her favorite food was chicken. Congrats, Emma, on being this week’s Alma Elementary Student of the Week!
