Kindergarten got a little spooky this week! 👻 Our students practiced their letters and spelling in ghost foam, and it was scary how good they were! ✏️💫 Afterward, they had some free draw fun to let their imaginations run wild. 🎃

Fourth grader, Sienna Bremer, is this week’s Alma Elementary Student of the Week. During her first year at Alma, Sienna found her favorite teacher, Mrs. Baab. Her favorite class is social studies, where she can work with partners and create slideshows. Throughout the day, Sienna looks forward to going to her Phy Ed class. Sienna has one brother, Axel, in first grade. At home, Sienna spends her time riding horses, creating art, and singing songs by Lainey Wilson. She also has many pets that she tends to in her free time, including chickens, ducks, cats, and dogs. Besides being a great pet, chicken is also her favorite food. She especially enjoys the chicken from the Waumandee County Bar. Congratulations, Sienna, on being this week’s Alma Elementary Student of the Week!

This Week’s High School Student of the Week is 10th grader, Olivia Austin. She is the daughter of Jeff and Donne Austin. Her favorite class is Spanish because she believes learning a foreign language is essential for both life and future career opportunities. Olivia’s favorite teacher is Mrs. Krzoska, whom she loves for her patience, understanding, and ability to explain things clearly. Her favorite food is South African Milk Tart. Olivia looks up to her Aunt Danielle, who is joining Britain’s Army as an HR Specialist. Despite facing challenges, her aunt has remained strong and optimistic, which allows Olivia to look up to her Aunt every day. In the future, Olivia wants to be a forensic auditor when she grows up. Keep up the great work!

Second graders are spook-tacularly smart! We’ve been learning all about place value and representing numbers to 200. Students built their skeletons bone by bone while practicing how to break numbers into hundreds, tens, and ones.

Huge shoutout to those who helped support our annual Aces for ALS night. This tradition has gone on since 2022, and this year we raised, $1,484 for the ALS Foundation. All the donations on the baskets and t-shirt sales are greatly appreciated and go to such a great cause.

Last week 5th grade got to go on our first field trip of the year. As we are nearing the end of our conservation unit in science, we got to explore our new knowledge of the concept locally. We took a bus all around the community. Along the way we got to observe all of the different ways we can practice conservation, by both persevering and protecting our environment. We learned about blue birds, trout, dairy farms, compost, soil, and so much more. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to make this possible for our 5th graders.

The elementary Student of the Week is first grader, Evelyn Wayne. Evelyn is the older sister of Ben, who is a kindergartener. During school, Evy enjoys learning about handwriting because then she learns about all the different letters and the sounds they make. For lunch, she typically eats school lunch, which she always enjoys tomato soup and grilled cheese the most. You can always find Evy wearing pink and on the zipline at recess. She likes to play softball in the summer, particularly hitting the ball because it is easier than having to field the ball. At home, her family only has nine chickens, which her dad mostly takes care of, but she still enjoys having them around. At home, she plays outside on the swings doing tummy tornados which make her very dizzy. Right now, Evelyn wants to be an art teacher because she is very creative. Congratulations Evelyn, and keep up the good work.

This week’s Alma High School Student of the Week is senior, Gavin Weaver. Gavin’s favorite teacher is Mr. Reed because of his humor; however, his favorite class this year has been Farm to Fork, where he learns all aspects of common cooking techniques, such as canning and cooking wild game. Speaking of food, Gavin’s favorite school meal is teriyaki chicken. After high school, he plans to attend Western Technical College to earn a degree in welding and CDL. In his free time, you may find Gavin fishing or playing sports, which include bowling, basketball, and golf. At home, Gavin has two dogs, Libby and Diesel, as well as three cats, Nemo, Nugget, and Pickles. Congrats, Gavin, on being this week’s Student of the Week!
