Kindergarten scientists explored solids, liquids, and gases! We hunted for solid objects around our room, practiced pouring liquids with different containers, blew up balloons and giggled as we let them zoom around the room, and even explored our own gas to make feathers dance in the air. Learning about states of matter has never been so fun!

Addison Hoover is this week’s Student of the Week at Alma Area Schools. Addison is a third grader who likes to spend time with her family, her mom, Gabbi, her siblings, Serenity and Zyler, and their pet dog, Buddy. At school, Addison’s favorite day of the week is Fun Fridays, where they get to play with their green bins. Outside of school, she loves taking naps. She also likes the color pink, tigers, and white cheddar popcorn. Her favorite book is Dumb Diaries, and she enjoys playing with Legos, which come easily to her when building. Her favorite thing to do at recess is play tag with a big group of her friends. Math is her favorite subject, especially multiplying, and this year she’s proud to have learned a new skill: subtraction of large numbers. Addison hopes to become a nurse someday, so she can help take care of her sister. If she could have a superpower, she’d choose invisibility, so she could watch TV all the time without her mom knowing. Lastly, Addison's dream trip would be a visit to the jumpark, so she could spend the whole time doing cartwheels on the trampolines. Congratulations, Addison, and keep up the great work!

This week’s Student of the Week is Senior, Amber Meier! Amber’s favorite class is Pre Calculus because she enjoys talking and having fun with Mr. Kilian every day. Some of her favorite hobbies are barrel racing, spending time with her friends, reading, and shopping. Amber plays volleyball and softball; however, she says her favorite sport is softball because she enjoys building bonds and spending time with her teammates. When not doing one of her many hobbies, Amber likes to spend time with her family. After high school, her future plans are to go to college to be a dental hygienist. Congratulations Amber, for being Student of the Week.

This week, our seventh and eighth-grade classes had the opportunity to tour Chipewa Valley Technical College. On their tour, they got to learn from an EMT, where they learned CPR, firefighting skills, and other life-saving skills. Then they headed to the police academy for training, where they underwent various tests, including vertical jump and shuttle runs. Here are a few pictures from their trip!
