The elementary Student of the Week is first grader, Evelyn Wayne. Evelyn is the older sister of Ben, who is a kindergartener. During school, Evy enjoys learning about handwriting because then she learns about all the different letters and the sounds they make. For lunch, she typically eats school lunch, which she always enjoys tomato soup and grilled cheese the most. You can always find Evy wearing pink and on the zipline at recess. She likes to play softball in the summer, particularly hitting the ball because it is easier than having to field the ball. At home, her family only has nine chickens, which her dad mostly takes care of, but she still enjoys having them around. At home, she plays outside on the swings doing tummy tornados which make her very dizzy. Right now, Evelyn wants to be an art teacher because she is very creative. Congratulations Evelyn, and keep up the good work.
This week’s Alma High School Student of the Week is senior, Gavin Weaver. Gavin’s favorite teacher is Mr. Reed because of his humor; however, his favorite class this year has been Farm to Fork, where he learns all aspects of common cooking techniques, such as canning and cooking wild game. Speaking of food, Gavin’s favorite school meal is teriyaki chicken. After high school, he plans to attend Western Technical College to earn a degree in welding and CDL. In his free time, you may find Gavin fishing or playing sports, which include bowling, basketball, and golf. At home, Gavin has two dogs, Libby and Diesel, as well as three cats, Nemo, Nugget, and Pickles. Congrats, Gavin, on being this week’s Student of the Week!

Alma took first place this year at the soil judging contest hosted in Maiden Rock. The team consisted of Garrett Krause, Eli Krause, Max Carothers, and Gavin Weaver; their compiled score was 1,097. Congrats on this accomplishment!

The elementary Student of the Week is 5th grader Elle Myren. Elle has a very large family with two older brothers, Silas and Spencer, one older sister, Emma, and a younger sister, Esther. When she gets older, Elle wants to run her family farm if her brothers have not already taken it over. This is a dream of hers because she loves to be in the calm countryside. Elle’s favorite food is steak because it is always very fresh and delicious. Doing crafts is her favorite hobby because she can express how she feels through the art and creativeness of what she's doing. Elle most enjoys the subject math because she is good at it and enjoys learning new things. Congratulations Elle on being this week’s Student of the Week!
This week's Student of the Week is Charley Serum, a 9th grader at Alma High School. This year, her goals are to keep up good grades and make fun memories with her classmates. At home, she has an 18-year-old sister and four dogs. Her favorite dog is Diesel, a playful black lab who loves to cuddle. In school, Charley enjoys English class because she understands it well and appreciates how Mrs. Krzoska teaches. Outside of school, she loves watching races at the Mississippi Speedway. Her biggest goals this year are to do well in wrestling and keep improving throughout the season. Congratulations to Charley, keep up the good work.

The third graders were happy to hear they earned Flashlight “Friday” (even if it was a day early). It was a perfect afternoon to dig a littler deeper into their chapter books and have some fun while reading!
The Eagles Volleyball team plays the Wildcats tonight at 7 PM. As a reminder, it is ALS night.
Mrs. Glanders' sixth-grade class has been working in the Fab Lab this year. They were given the task to make a three-dimensional creation that would be displayed in the high school's library.

Mrs. Glander and Mr. Reed's 8th-grade math class has been working on their basketball and math skills! The NBA and WNBA (National Basketball Association and Women's National Basketball Association) leverage the game of basketball and the NBA/WNBA brands to build fundamental math skills through a physical and digital basketball-themed board game, a curriculum, and a community program experience. All the school had to do was register to receive six new boards. They currently have a double-elimination bracket that keeps the students engaged and active while learning.
